Feeding the Reindeer and Christmas Morning

This year, in her Kindergarten class, Courtney got to make reindeer food to lay out in the grass.  It is made of oatmeal and glitter.  The glitter is to provide some sparkle so the reindeer can see the food better in the dark. She was so excited to put it in the grass on Christmas Eve before we went on a drive to look at Christmas lights. Those reindeer need something too.  They have to keep their energy levels up.   They have a lot of flying to do.

Before feeding the reindeer and looking at lights we did have our traditional Mexican food dinner, open our pajamas, reading of Luke 2, and following the star to find baby Jesus in the manger under the tree. I love having Christmas traditions!
The next morning all the girls were up bright and early.  They were excited to see what they got.  To their delight they got some comfy reading pillows, some books, games, movies, a few other miscellaneous toys and items and of coarse candy.  Courtney wouldn’t quite believe it was Christmas if she didn’t get candy in her stocking.

We really had a fun, wonderful and relaxing day.  It was great to be together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.  I know at times it is easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the holiday’s forgetting the real reason for the season.  I guess all we can do is try to have some memorable Christ centered traditions to keep the real meaning alive.
